The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has embarked on a desilting exercise of the Waec storm drain near Akwatia Line with the help of inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.According to the Environmental Health Unit, any time it rains plastics and polythene are washed into the drains and close to the culvert that is supposed to carry the storm water across the road to the other end, and so consistently the KMA has to be removing these plastics.Mr. Kwaku Poku, Head of the Unit noted that upon a recent instruction by the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, and a subsequent provision of an excavator they embarked on the desilting exercise.
